  • What are the fees?
Our session fees start at $150 for a 45-minute session. We understand that accessing mental health services is important, which is why we strive to offer transparent and competitive rates. For clients covered by NIHB (Non-Insured Health Benefits), we're pleased to offer direct billing to the insurer. This means that eligible clients can receive our services with no upfront costs, making it easier to prioritize their mental health and well-being. Additionally, our services may be covered by some insurance providers, such as Manulife and Greenshield. However, coverage for psychotherapy services provided by a Registered Nurse Psychotherapist may vary depending on the insurance plan. We recommend that clients check with their insurance provider to confirm coverage details and eligibility criteria. At LAH Counselling, we're committed to making quality mental health care accessible to all. If you have any further questions about our fees or payment options, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to support you on your journey to wellness.
  • Do you offer online therapy or teletherapy?
At LAH, we currently offer online therapy sessions exclusively. Our teletherapy services provide a convenient and accessible way to access mental health support from the comfort of your own space. Whether you're facing geographical constraints or prefer the convenience of virtual sessions, our online therapy option allows you to prioritize your mental well-being with flexibility and ease. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an online session, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
  • Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is confidential. At LAH Counselling & Psychotherapy, we prioritize the confidentiality and privacy of our clients. Everything discussed during therapy sessions is kept confidential between you and your therapist. However, there are certain legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality. These include situations where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, suspicion or disclosure of abuse of a child, or when compelled by a court order. In these limited circumstances, I am obligated to take necessary steps to ensure safety and compliance with the law. It's important to us that you feel safe and comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings during therapy. If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, please don't hesitate to discuss them with your therapist.
  • How long does therapy typically last?
The duration of therapy can vary depending on individual needs, treatment goals, and progress. While some clients may find relief and achieve their goals in a few sessions, others may benefit from longer-term therapy to address deeper issues or make lasting changes. Generally, therapy sessions are scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, but this can be adjusted based on your therapist's recommendations and your availability. Factors that may influence the length of treatment include the complexity of the issues being addressed, the level of support and resources available outside of therapy, and your willingness and ability to engage in the therapeutic process. Ultimately, the length of therapy is determined collaboratively between you and your therapist, taking into account your treatment goals, progress, and ongoing needs. Your therapist will work with you to establish a treatment plan and review it regularly to ensure that you're making progress towards your goals.
  • What types of issues can therapy help with?
Therapy can help with a wide range of issues, providing support and guidance for individuals facing various challenges. Common issues addressed in therapy include: Anxiety: Therapy can help individuals learn coping strategies to manage symptoms of anxiety, such as excessive worry, panic attacks, and phobias. Depression: Therapists can assist individuals in understanding and addressing feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and low self-esteem, offering tools to improve mood and overall well-being. Relationship Problems: Therapy provides a safe space to explore communication issues, conflicts, and intimacy concerns within relationships, whether with a partner, family member, or friend. Trauma: Therapists trained in trauma-focused approaches can support individuals in processing and healing from past traumatic experiences, such as abuse, violence, or accidents. Stress Management: Therapy offers techniques and strategies to better manage stress, improve resilience, and enhance overall coping skills in the face of life's challenges. These are just a few examples of the many issues that therapy can address. Whether you're struggling with one of these concerns or facing something else entirely, therapy offers a supportive and non-judgmental environment to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with the guidance of a trained professional.
